Think Like 50 1/2 Ideas to Become a Digital Leader John Rossman Books Reviews

  • Hands down- best business strategy book I've read in many years! In fact, I like this so much I'm reading it a second time- twice in one month.

As I was reading the book I started texting everyone I knew in Silicon Valley and telling them to get this book.

I even suggested my family members who are senior managers at DotCom companies to get several copies and share this with their team. Easily, I'd buy 10 copies minimum because its that fantastic.

While I have limited knowledge about the author, I do have much knowledge on business leadership, visionary leadership and team management. This book nails all three points with great insight.

Looking through the handbook with 50 ½ answers I see places were these secrets were implemented. For me, it resembles treasure book of historical events. I've watched grow and participated in many of their concepts.

I'd recommend this book for managers, visionary leaders, business owners, and business coaches. It crosses into every commerce concept and isn’t limited in scope. These ideas can be implemented by any person with a desire for success- in any business.

Game changer! Kudos to the author for attention to detail and the excitement that flows from making things and ideas work.
  • Rossman is a master at bringing life to the leadership principles through real-world stories and examples. And, as with his previous books, this one is written in straightforward and direct language -- no fluff here! The real power in the leadership principles comes from the in-built counter-balances and the day-to-day practices underlying them, and here Rossman delivers a potent and actionable selection, crisply articulated. I've often recommended and given away his previous books to colleagues and clients, and I'm eager to get this book deployed. If you are in -- or aspire to be in -- the C-suite, you need to read this book.
  • Use the tools of this book to solve the seemingly impossible challenges your business faces today, and your customers will thank you with their loyalty and wallets.
  • The book is filled with focused, concise and helpful advice presented in bit sized and easy to read way. The book is broken into three or four page vignettes around 50 different point. This makes it easy to accesss and read. The points basically rehash the Mantra, principles etc. It is a undisputedly successful company, but at times the advice and points become more dogma than insight. This is obvious particularly when the author just restates and republished parts of ’s letter to shareholders.

It’s a five star book because of the quality of the advice. This does not mean that the book is flawless. The author only worked at for five years and left the company in the mid 2000’s so its been a while since he was an executive there.

The book would be a solid 5 star and super recommended if it talked about how invested in failures, how it came to realize it, walk back from it etc. There is just too much does this and it always works advice to make this a really great book.
  • I was not familiar with John Rossman before reading this book because Jeff Bezos is the name that overshadows all others when speaking of . I was impressed with how each of the 50 1/2 success answers were presented with detail yet very easy to follow and understand. A definite must read of anyone ready to take their business to the next level and think beyond the typical daily routine. I have read this book once and already going back to read it again and apply more of what is shared to improve my own success. Thank you, John!
  • This is a decent book. It's written by a former insider who talks all about the ways does things, which he believes is how they've become so successful. It's a little long for what it is and a lot of personal stories to lead into most of the 50 1/2 ideas. I don't really care for that type of leadership/business book style of writing, but if you are a narrative type person, you'll likely enjoy it. Overall, about half of the ideas in here are good and not ones I've heard everywhere, the other half a pretty standard.
